Dopo innumerevoli rinvii, è arrivato il DVD di Pulse, contenente la registrazione dello spettacolo già edito su doppio CD che i Pink Floyd (orfani di Roger Waters) tennero durante il loro ultimo tour, in promozione dell'album "The Division Bell" nel 1994 all'Earls Curt di Londra.

Il concerto è suddiviso in due parti: nella prima si trovano i grandi successi come “Learning To Fly”, “Another Brick In The Wall (part 2)” e “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” mentre la seconda è interamente dedicata a “Dark Side Of The Moon”.

Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii è un video della progressive rock band Pink Floyd, pubblicato nel 1972. Si tratta di un concerto eseguito nell'anfiteatro di Pompei in assenza del pubblico, con la sola presenza dello staff tecnico. Londra 1965. Tre giovani studenti di architettura si ritrovano la sera a suonare il blues nella cantine. La città è nel suo momento magico e sprigiona creatività nella musica, nella moda, nella cultura giovanile. Syd Barrett ha diciannove anni, fa il pittore ma ama il rock. È lui la scintilla. Si unisce ai tre studenti e fonda una delle band più famose della storia del rock “I Pink Floyd”.
Per Dixit Stelle in onda il 29 dicembre alle 22, parla Nick Mason, il batterista del gruppo: “Non eravamo certo partiti con l’idea di sviluppare un suono moderno o psichedelico, volevamo semplicemente essere un gruppo di Rithm’n Blues”. Ma Barrett ha una marcia in più. La sua genialità porta il gruppo lontano. “Non era tecnicamente un gran chitarrista - sostiene Mason - ma nel rock è molto più importante saper scrivere delle belle canzoni”.

Si tratta di un concerto senza pubblico, trasmesso varie volte dalla stessa KQED col titolo “An Hour With Pink Floyd”. Secondo le informazioni riportate in copertina, nel DVD sono combinate 2 fonti: un VHS registrato da una trasmissione televisiva per il video; la parte audio proviene invece da un 3/4″ station master, ripulito e rimasterizzato. La qualità di registrazione è eccellente.

ARRIVA WHY PINK FLOYD ...

Sono finalmente disponibili tutte le registrazioni in studio completamente rimasterizzate, box da collezione e brani inediti dei PINK FLOYD per il grande progetto musicale denominato “Why Pink Floyd...?” attraverso il quale la band ridefinisce l’eredità EMI, un sodalizio che prosegue fin dal 1967.

Per celebrare la prima parte di pubblicazioni del grande progetto ‘Why Pink Floyd…?’, oggi il celebre maiale dei Pink Floyd tornerà a sorvolare la centrale elettrica di Battersea a Londra dopo ben 35 anni ricreando così la celebre copertina dell’album “Animals”. Il maiale, una replica in PVC in quanto l’originale è stato dichiarato non adatto ad essere riutilizzato dopo tutto questo tempo, a differenza del 1976, sorvolerà per tutto il giorno la Centrale Elettrica dall’estremità a nord vicino al fiume.

A dare il via alle pubblicazioni sono ben 3 edizioni speciali di “The Dark Side Of The Moon” e tutti gli studio album completamente rimasterizzati. Il capolavoro dei Pink Floyd sarà presentato, oltre all’edizione standard “Discovery” (album originale rimasterizzato in nuova versione digipack), anche nei seguenti formati speciali:

· edizione “Experience” (all’album originale rimasterizzato viene aggiunto un bonus CD inedito contenente l’intera scaletta del disco eseguita dal vivo a Wembley nel ’74);

· edizione “Immersion” limited edition (box con booklet speciali, memorabilia, l’album originale rimasterizzato, il bonus CD live come sopra e a cui viene aggiunto materiale audio e video su Dvd e Blu-ray Disc più un ulteriore CD con brani inediti tra cui il primo mix dell’album di Alan Parsons e demo mai pubblicati prima d’ora);

· Edizione “LP” limited edition (vinile 180 grammi con riproduzione delle grafiche originali a cui viene allegata card che consente di scaricare la versione digitale dell’album in MP3 a 320 Kbps.


Proprio riguardo a “The Dark Side Of The Moon” il canale ufficiale YouTube dei Pink Floyd sarà protagonista di un grande evento online: ogni ora fino al 28 settembre gli utenti di tutto il mondo potranno ascoltare in streaming la performance live dell’intero album “The Dark Side Of The Moon” registrata a Wembley nel 1974 e mai pubblicata prima d’ora. Il concerto è accompagnato da immagini esclusive e dai celebri Concert Screen Film che la band proiettava sugli schermi durante le loro esibizioni dal vivo.


Per quanto riguarda l’intera discografia di studio rimasterizzata dei Pink Floyd si parte dall’album d’esordio “The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn” fino all’ultimo “The Division Bell”, passando da “Atom Heart Mother”, “Animals”, “Wish You Were Here” e “The Wall”, tutti i 14 capolavori della band saranno disponibili singolarmente in versione Discovery o in un unico Box in edizione limitata con esclusivo libro fotografico.


Storm Thorgerson, da lunghissimo tempo Art Director della band, ha curato e supervisionato tutte le grafiche, tra cui i nuovi booklet per tutti i CD, il nuovo artwork per il box-set e i menu per i contenuti del DVD e Blu-ray Disc. La fotografa Jill Furmanovsky ha curato la realizzazione dei libri inseriti nelle edizioni speciali con fotografie originali inedite. James Guthrie (in USA) e Andy Jackson (nel Regno Unito) sono stati incaricati della rimasterizzazione digitale realizzata con i più elevati standard audio e audiovisivi.

La responsabile della filmografia dei Pink Folyd, Lana Topham, ha curato un attento restauro di molti filmati storici d’epoca inclusi nella versione “Immersion” di ”The Dark Side Of The Moon”.


Il progetto proseguirà il 7 novembre con la pubblicazione della raccolta “A Foot In The Door – The Best Of Pink Floyd” e delle edizioni speciali di “Wish You Were Here”, e si chiuderà nel febbraio 2012 con la pubblicazione dei cofanetti dedicati a“The Wall”, album che ha venduto oltre 25 milioni di copie nel mondo ed è diventato un punto di riferimento sia culturale che politico nel corso degli ultimi tre decenni.


Nel 1967 la band comprendeva Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Nick Mason e Richard Wright. Barrett abbandonò il gruppo nel 1968 e fu sostituito da David Gilmour. Syd Barrett morì nel 2006, mentre Richard Wright ci lasciò nel 2008. I Pink Floyd ad oggi hanno venduto oltre 200 milioni di dischi in tutto il mondo e sono ancora oggi uno dei gruppo di maggior successo ed icona musicale di tutti i tempi.

La copertina di Dark Side Of The Moon dei Pink Floyd è stata votata la miglior cover di tutti i tempi.

Sul podio delle copertine più apprezzate, risultato da questo sondaggio, anche “Nevermind” dei Nirvana e “Sgt Pepper´s Lonely Hearts Club Band” dei The Beatles.

Nella top ten delle 10 copertine più belle di sempre anche Iron Maiden, Joy Division, The Clash...

Pink Floyd e Emi confermano l'accordo editoriale, si ristampa il catalogo!

Sono disponibili in tutti i negozi tradizionali e digitali tutte le registrazioni in studio completamente rimasterizzate, box da collezione e brani inediti dei Pink Floyd. Con questa operazione discografica la band di David Gilmore ridefinisce l’eredità EMI creando un sodalizio che prosegue fin dal 1967. Il progetto è denominato “Why Pink Floyd...?”.
Per celebrare la prima parte di pubblicazioni del grande progetto ieri lunedi 27 ottobrere il celebre maiale dei Pink Floyd ha sorvolato la centrale elettrica di Battersea a Londra dopo ben 35 anni ricreando così la celebre copertina dell’album “Animals”.
Il maiale, una replica in PVC in quanto l’originale è stato dichiarato non adatto ad essere riutilizzato dopo tutto questo tempo, a differenza del 1976, sorvolerà per tutto il giorno la Centrale Elettrica dall’estremità a nord vicino al fiume.
A dare il via alle pubblicazioni sono ben 3 edizioni speciali di “The Dark Side Of The Moon” e tutti gli studio album completamente rimasterizzati. Il capolavoro dei Pink Floyd sarà presentato, oltre all’edizione standard “Discovery” (album originale rimasterizzato in nuova versione digipack), anche nei seguenti formati speciali: edizione “Experience” (all’album originale rimasterizzato viene aggiunto un bonus CD inedito contenente l’intera scaletta del disco eseguita dal vivo a Wembley nel ’74);
edizione “Immersion” limited edition (box con booklet speciali, memorabilia, l’album originale rimasterizzato, il bonus CD live come sopra e a cui viene aggiunto materiale audio e video su Dvd e Blu-ray Disc più un ulteriore CD con brani inediti tra cui il primo mix dell’album di Alan Parsons e demo mai pubblicati prima d’ora); edizione “LP” limited edition (vinile 180 grammi con riproduzione delle grafiche originali a cui viene allegata card che consente di scaricare la versione digitale dell’album in MP3 a 320 Kbps.
